The first edition of Dhaka Global Dialogue was held from 11-13 November 2019 in Bangladesh. The three day long programme was inaugurated by Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina.
About Dhaka Global Dialogue
Organised by: The programme was jointly organised by New Delhi based Observer Research Foundation (ORF) and Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS).
Participants: More than 150 delegates from 50 countries participated in the conference to discuss some of the most pressing global imperatives in context of the Indo-pacific region. It included large number of policy makers, law makers, scholars, strategic experts, industry leaders and professionals of various fields.
The geographical location of Bangladesh is advantageous and strategic and thus could act a bridge between South Asia and South-East Asia on which it needs to build further. It is believed that the Asian Century which will be shaped by stories of transformations in the east and its collective rise.
Bangladesh annually loses nearly 2% of its GDP due to climate change issues but Bangladesh is also an example of adaptive resilience which could be emulated by other countries globally.
Principle of Bangladesh’s foreign policy remains, ‘friendship to all, malice to none’. Bangladesh has become a role model for other countries for its peaceful resolution of maritime disputes and land boundary agreement with neighbouring India and Myanmar.
Significance of Dhaka Global Dialogue: It will act as a platform for countries in this region on the way of achieving environmentally sustainable peace and prosperity. Participants also agreed upon that peace and stability in the maritime domain will be critical to Asia’s rise.

The Global Innovation Policy Center (GIPC) of the United States Chamber of Commerce has launched a new innovation initiative Fair Value for Innovation at the Raisina Dialogue in New Delhi.

The Fair Value for Innovation initiative would
- Examine economic underpinnings that would enable breakthrough innovation.
- Explore how policymakers can harness innovation capital in India and around the globe through research, advocacy, partnerships, and programs.
The Raisina Dialogue is a multi-stakeholder, cross-sectoral discussion, involving heads of state, cabinet ministers and local government officials, as well as major private sector executives, members of the media and academics.
The Raisina Dialogue has emerged as India’s flagship conference on geopolitics and geo-economics. The Dialogue is hosted by the Observer Research Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. It was designed on the lines of Singapore’s Shangri-La Dialogue.
The dialogue is named after Raisina Hill, which is the seat of the Government of India, as well as the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The first Raisina Dialogue was held in 2016 with the theme “Asia: Regional and Global Connectivity”. The theme of the 2019 dialogue is “A World Reorder: New Geometries; Fluid Partnerships; Uncertain Outcomes”.
